I found the material quite insightful

I found the material quite insightful. Especially how we are formed in our childhood years and develop our attachments. Something I kind of understood, but not really. My home environment was very dysfunctional. My father spent the ages 3-6 in a Japanese Concentration camp in Indonesia with his mom. His father was in the men's camp. As you can imagine, this really messed him up... and the lives of those he touched (family and friends).

I just walked away (6 mo ago) from, what I learned after, a nine year long relationship with a covert/vulnerable narcissist. I'm quite blown away in hindsight as I learn more and more about narcissistic abuse. The red flags were there, and I knew something was off, but just didn't understand what was going on. What was wrong with me? ... right?

Thankfully I've had a tremendous support system directing my conversations and moves with the narc and was able to avoid a catastrophe.

I've gone no contact. I'm beyond exhausted, and quite reactive and easily triggered, and still not in the best place. The relationship really started to trigger my insecurities from poor attachments, to the point I had to get out. It also attacked my health (I'm type 2 diabetic).

While through the years I've dealt with a lot of my stuff, the good thing of it all is that I really learned some incredible lessons, and especially new insights into my own trauma, and how much of that is still alive within me. I hope I can combat that reactive behavior and become the healthy person who is cool, calm and collected. When I'm good, that's who I am.

Thank you for the workshop and sharing your experience.
